the Brother Andrew "Flying Guitars" CD REVIEW

earBuzz Review : Brother Andrew is an accomplished acoustic guitar open tuning fingerstyle jammer. This collection of 15 mostly instrumental tunes is like a breath of sea air on a summer day - with tracks that are dedicated specifically to parts of the day when they're best enjoyed. Track 1, "Morning Star" is one such tune. .with it's upbeat and happy melodic line, amid the gorgeous sounds of the open strings BA plays. The multi-track effort has influences of Ackerman and Hedges and a travis picking style that neither of the two Windham Hill artists really exploited to the extent that Andrew does here. His style is melodic with chromatic passing tones within the guitar melodies, and pedaling bass lines supporting honky-tonk like single lines on the top strings. Highlights include, "Flying Guitars", "Sitting On Top of the World", "Caffeine Machine",
and a cover of the jazz standard, "Girl from Ipanema". .all mp3'd here. California garden party/ocean party music - I can see the scene, "hey Bob, how's that new proposal coming along...wait - wow, that CD is great. . who is it?".. and so it will go - cool stringin' from the
Bro of 1999.

BROTHER ANDREW - FLYING GUITARS

There's a certain something about acoustic music that can work well like this album or it can basically be just a means to set the boredom in when done badly. Fortunately, as just mentioned, this album works quite well, almost entirely instrumental, save one track
"Pacheco Pass", which has a vocal attached. There's a number of interesting songs featured here from the classic cover of "Girl From Ipanema"
(a track Idon't believe I've ever heard done with acoustic guitar before), the very cool & upbeat "Caffeine Machine" to the more conventional "Spanish Flang Dang", which isn't exactly what the title of the song might indicate. Lovers of acoustic guitar will revel in the music here, while those searching for rock will need to look elsewhere. Primarily, this is an album for those looking for relaxing listening experiences - as such, this album is a prime example. Terry Allen "hEARd"magazine

Dear Andrew, I work at a local country radio station and when I came in after a finishing my day of remotes (I work in the promotions dept.) I was talking to our evening disc jockey about our new guitars. He was playing this wonderful acoustic instrumental as a music bed, and said "you HAVE to check this out!" and loaned me your wonderful CD. I love guitar music, not the real flashy stuff, I generally favor a good melody (my favorite is Steve Howe of Yes). I have to say I loved your music! This is the a great CD! I do not have a credit card and I am interested in purchasing one for myself. Is this sold in stores or can I mail-order? Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for a great set of songs! Bill Moore

I LOVE it Andrew!!!!!

Hi Andrew, Thanks for the cd. Superb product !. I didn't know you played as well as that. The music is right up my alley too so I really enjoy listening to it. Don't get too rich and famous and forget all us little guys though. The cd is at my brothers at the moment. He plays the guitar too but hasn't been playing much lately. I'm hoping you will inspire him to keep on making music. All the best, Royce

Thank you so much for sending. It is wonderful soothing music indeed.
